What is it about?

This article describes how the scattering from any crystal is not confined to the vicinity of the Bragg condition and leads to a simple explanation for the scattering from an imperfect crystal and the suppression of dynamical effects.

Why is it important?

Because the intensity is not confined to the vicinity of the Bragg condition, the integrated intensity around these peaks is not representative of the structure factor. This has implications in the determination of structures.

The is the first follow-up article of 'a new theory for x-ray diffraction (2014)', which includes the scattering from imperfect crystals. It gives a simplified description of the theory from a different approach as well as experimental evidence.
