What is it about?

This publication provides a concise overview of fluctuation X-ray scattering, how this experiment is related to standard SAXS/WAXS and what the benefits of this technique are over standard scattering methods.

Why is it important?

The work in this manuscript highlights for the first time the link between fluctuation X-ray scattering and standard SAXS/WAXS. Basic generalizations of Guinier's and Porod's law are derived and it is illustrated how much more structural detail can be recovered from fluctuation scattering data as compared to SAXS/WAXS.
