Peroxynitrite product of apocynin : nitroapocynin

What is it about?

Apocynin is a pharmaceutical drug used in east asian medican system. It is also a promising clinical trial drug for mild asthma. We have synthesized a nitrated version of this drug and determined the crystal structure.

The publication discuss the synthesis and crystal structure of nitroapocynin. It is important because of the anti inflammatory properties of apocynin. The method of synthesis is simple and based on the green chemistry techniques (use of ionic liquids).
