What is it about?

Cu (II) groups are recognized for their crucial role as active sites in metalloenzymes and are present in many biological systems. We have been able to synthesize a catalytically active Cu (II) biomimetic model similar to catechol oxidase with an unconventional coordination pattern of the multidentate ligand around the metal atoms. Spectroscopic method was used to confirm its catalytic oxidation and SXRD the crystal structure.

This would help rethink designing biomimetic models based on copper (II0 metals.
