What is it about?
The follow-up work associated with the previous publication about the influence of halogen p-substituents in flexible tridentate salicylaldimine ligands on self-assembly. p-chloro derivative is octahedral polymeric copper(II) complex while p-bromo is square planar. This paper describes self-assembly of a complex with both chlorine and bromine substituents. The complex is square planar in the solid state.

Why is it important?
Halogen bonding is a very important type of interaction, and this letter is somewhat associated. Substituent effect plays a crucial role in catalysis and sensing.
Perspectives
I hope this short article could be an inspiration for scientists working in the area of self-assembly, not only crystallographers but also physical chemists investigating self-assembly processes on various surfaces.
