What is it about?

We used high resolution electron microscopes to know more about the light emission by individual nanometric quantum disks embedded in nano-wires. These light emitters displayed considerable energy shifts depending on the emission intensity. Moreover, their efficiency, amount of light emitted per incident electron, fell considerably when such shifts were observed. These results are consistent with simulations and the fact that high density of carriers reduce the QCSE and lead to Auger recombination.
