What is it about?

We present Mn Kb emission data as a contour map over wide energy ranges in both excitation and emission. It is demonstrated that spin-polarized x-ray absorption near edge structure (SPXANES) can be deduced by analyzing the data in terms of a formula derived from the Kramers-Heisenberg equation. The SPXANES spectra thus obtained are considerably different from those by conventional method, but are consistent with an anticipation from Hund's rule, and the overall spectral shapes as well as peak positions agree well with a theoretical calculation.
