What is it about?

Synchronisation is a collective phenomenon whereby interacting entities beat in unison. In this work, interacting entities are active camphor rotors moving in the air/water and showing rotational synchronisation in two modes- corotating and counterrotating.

Why is it important?

Our findings showed that pinned active rotors can exhibit synchronisation, which is distance-dependent. Furthermore, we showed that the counter (rotors moving in opposite directions) is the preferred mode of synchronisation. Implementing a Yukawa interaction-based model, we captured these observations in the simulations.

Perspectives

This article is always special as it was my first research publication. It marked the beginning of my scientific career and was the first paper on camphor rotors from my PhD lab, making it even more special.
