A rare bug called Yersinia enterocolitica causing an infected aneurysm that was treated with antibiotics and a minimally invasive procedure.

Why is it important?

This is the first reported case of an abdominal aneurysm infected by Yersinia enterocolitica to be treated successfully with antibiotics and endovascular repair. This has implications as to a new gold-standard of treatment for mycotic aneurysms.
