What is it about?

During the sea transportation of bananas from Central America to Europe in containers few percents of the products are lost due to quality problems. Even small reductions of these losses can bring large economic benefits. Containers with critical temperature conditions or low remaining green life will be detected by remote supervision combined with biological and thermal models to analyze the data of temperature and gas sensors.

Why is it important?

These containers can be prioritized for unloading and further processing at arrival in Europe. The enhanced supervision system even allows carrying out and controlling the ripening process directly in the container without the need for specialized chambers ashore.
