Why is it important?
Methods that allow modular models to be constructed while ensuring fundamental physical laws are obeyed will help to improve reusability and extensibility of mathematical models in biology.
Perspectives
There is increasing scientific and medical interest in understanding how the human body generates, transports and uses energy in sickness and in health. Mathematical models based on the underlying science can be used within computers to test hypotheses and to suggest new experiments.
