What is it about?

Voice is signature of yourself. You can tell who they are from their voice. Our current study identified clear voice signatures of individuals in another primate species, macaque monkey.

Why is it important?

The recorded thousands of monkey calls allowed us to estimate the variability and consistency of caller information across utterances in a high dimensional parameter space, using advanced, recently developed statistical techniques. Our results demonstrate a clear acoustic basis by which individual monkey vocalizations can be recognized.
