What is it about?
Alike many cellular activities and phenotypes, the reproduction of the genetic material (DNA) is under the control of cellular metabolism. We propose in our review a general model for this and a biological function.

Why is it important?
Based on mechanistic data, we propose that the metabolic control of DNA is geared by systems orchestrating metabolome homeostasis.
Perspectives
Find which metabolites control DNA synthesis and whether changes in these pools impact genetic stability and open the route to tumorigenesis .
