Why is it important?

During the common surgical treatment modality used in BCC patients, the iCSM determined according to conventional NCCN recommendations need to be consistent with the hCSM. As supported by the findings of present study, when the hCSM is taken into consideration, the iCSM determined according to conventional NCCN recommendations may not be adequate in some cases. Nevertheless, when high-risk BCC lesions categorized according to lesion size and disease duration for excision with 5-, 7-, and 10-mm items, it is possible to obtain a small but important improvement in the outcome of patients.
