New techniques for ankylosed dental movement

What is it about?

This study reports about a new surgical technique for the alignment of ankylosed teeth. A tooth distractor appliance was used to generate buccal, palatal and vertical movements. The surgical approach was to proceed with a bucco-lingual osteotomy completed with another osteotomy made in a horizontal direction. A sonic handpiece was used to perform the surgery. The aim was to create a bone block surrounding the ankylosed tooth that could be displaced in the desired position according to the orthodontic case study
