What is it about?
Hepatic artery thrombosis is a devastating complication of pediatric living donor liver transplantation that can lead to graft loss and patient death. The use of microsurgical techniques for hepatic artery anastomosis has been shown to improve outcomes but reports are limited. This paper describes the outcomes of a large single microsurgeon case series of microvascular hepatic artery anastomosis. The literature is reviewed and technical pearls are provided for plastic surgeons and microsurgeons collaborating with transplant surgeons on this difficult procedure.
