Several repair mechanisms are activated long before stroke in an animal model of hypertension

What is it about?

We here demonstrate that minor vascular injuries and neuronal damages are present early in the brain of hypertensive rats and they are able to locally activate repair processes. Only when widespread damages are present for a long time and self healing can not contrast them anymore, we observed a massive event (stroke).

To contrast ischemic stroke in hypertensive patients it is important to understand the physiological pathways and the biological steps involved to support self healing and find the more suitable treatments.
