What is it about?
Finding solution to the difficult limb salvage treatment in tibia hemimelia. In this case, the deformed leg was surgically reconstructed to allow short-leg ambulation, which most likely stimulated accelerated 'catch-up' growth.

Why is it important?
Most patients were beginning to reject amputation as a method of treatment especially with patial tibia hemimelia.
Perspectives
The observed accelerated growth helped to reduce the limb length discrepancy. This could be exploited in an attempt to salvage the deformed limb in tibia hemimelia.
