What is it about?
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a new serotonergic centrally acting drug tramadol in delaying ejaculation in patients with premature ejaculation.

Why is it important?
Premature ejaculation (PE) is the commonest sexual problem in men affecting up to 75% of men at some point in their lives1 and up to almost 40% of men.
Perspectives
Tramadol seems to be a useful and well-tolerated oral treatment of premature ejaculation on as-needed basis. Opportunities exist for discovering and developing drugs for PE. The positive results from this drug indicate that clinical experiments should continue with various drug regimens and study settings.
