What is it about?
The ideal timing of soft tissue reconstruction for open lower extremity fractures is controversial. Using US national day, this study showed progressive delay in the timing of reconstruction over a 10-year period. Medical comorbidities, external fixation, and complex fracture patterns also predicted delayed reconstruction. Additional studies are needed to understand the impact of delayed soft-tissue coverage on patient outcomes and health services utilization.
