What is it about?
This and article describes the effect of long term use of parentral pamidronate in children with osteogenesis imperfecta and the consequences of long term osteoclastic inhibition with the resultant non traumatic stress fractures.

Why is it important?
The long term use of Intravenous pamidronate is actually associated with increased fracture risk.
Perspectives
To increase bone density and mass in kids with osteogenesis imperfecta we have to use parentral bisphosphonates. Their long term efficacy and safety is not well studied in paediatrics generally and in particular in kids with osteogenesis imperfecta. This work tried to explore this area.
