What is it about?
Paper describes potential role of the glycoprotein and co-receptor called endoglin in the development of endothelial dysfunction which is crucial step in many cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis and Ischemic Heart Disease.

Why is it important?
Treatment of cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis is still challenge and therefore it is useful to find proteins that play key role in the development of diseases. These proteins can be the target for potential therapy and we believe that of these could be endoglin.
Perspectives
Prospective studies will be focused on potential effects of drugs to affect endoglin expression and function in order to evaluate whether endoglin is good target for the therapy in humans.
