What is it about?

Breast cancer can be visualized with various molecular imaging methodologies. The use of radiolabeled sugar molecules allows high sensitivity detection of breast cancer tissue in patients. The present study explores the expression and function of special transporter proteins responsible for shuttling sugar molecules into cells, including cancer cells. The expression and function of these transporter proteins are essential in the regulation of tumor metabolism, an important hallmark of cancer.
