What is it about?
Learning about the mechanism involved in the development of brain is important to understand the diseases. That can range from mental to physical deficits. In this study, we have discovered a new molecule called Carboxypeptidase E /neurotrophic factor-a1 (CPE/NF-α1)-∆N that is expressed in embryonic, but not adult brains. (CPE/NF-α1)-∆N controls the expression of several genes that are critical for normal brain development. Genetic mutations of (CPE/NF-α1)-∆N could lead to abnormal brain development and neurological diseases.
