What is it about?
In the absence of SPNS2, the disorganization of developing retina is associated with disruption of cell polarity and cell-cycle exit of retinal progenitor cells, and insufficient migration of newborn neurons at the postnatal stage. The underlying mechanisms of this structural disorder are related to SPNS2-induced S1P release and S1PR3 activation in the eye.
