Francophone Aboriginal Literature in Quebec

What is it about?

This article examines Francophone Aboriginal literature in Quebec, one of the most underrepresented literatures in Canada, and Indigenous authors’ struggles to be heard both within the province and across the country. It looks at some of the works of these authors in the fields of Francophone literature or Quebec literature, from An Antane-Kapesh’s 1976 memoir to Joséphine Bacon and Rita Mestokosho’s collections of poetry. It also underscores the lack of awareness of Indigenous works written in French.
