Why is it important?
The study aims at explaining an intriguing textual problem in the transmission history of the Book of Daniel: the replacement of the Old Greek (or Septuagint) with Theodotion's Greek version. The issue is even more intriguing once we consider the perception of early church fathers that regarded the Old Greek of Daniel as an inspired text.
Perspectives
Writing this article was illuminating. The investigation of the earliest references to Theodotion's Greek text of Daniel helped me to better understand and appreciate the jewish-christian polemics of the first centuries as well as their impact on the transmission of the Greek manuscripts on the Book of Daniel.
