Would more people vote if parties offered different policy platforms?

What is it about?

I investigate the influence of party perceptions on individual choices for or against electoral participation.

Why is it important?

Electoral participation is central to the functioning of democracies and for the distribution of power within them. It is often said that political parties have a responsibility for citizens' abstention from voting. I use adequate long-term panel data to investigate the relationship between turnout and individual perceptions of political parties.
