Why is it important?

Electoral participation is central to the functioning of democracies and for the distribution of power within them. It is often said that political parties have a responsibility for citizens' abstention from voting. I use adequate long-term panel data to investigate the relationship between turnout and individual perceptions of political parties.

Perspectives

The study is limited to one country with small sample sizes.
