Why is it important?

This is the first PEP telephone helpline in any developing country and third globally and has been effective in improving implementation of PEP program in Delhi.

Perspectives

Prior to launch of PEP helpline in Delhi health workers suffering from occupational exposures to blood or body fluids lacked proper guidance on actions required to be taken. The helpline has helped them a lot not only in education about Prevention of occupational injuries but also regarding management of such exposures. This modality can be used to improve PEP program by countries where implementation of PEP program is a challenge.
