Why is it important?

Jejunal diverticular disease is an uncommon cause of GI bleeding, and is therefore often omitted from the list of differential diagnoses, leading to delays in treatments with sometimes fatal consequences. Clinicians should therefore be aware of this condition in cases of unexplained GI bleeding.
