Goldammer has championed fire science and fire management on the international stage - created the Global Fire Monitoring Center and the global fire network. The vision and motivation behind this achievement are equal to the products.
Perspectives
I've long admired Johann and wanted to write a profile of his career. I had hoped to organize it around the 20-year reunion to Bor so I could show him in action, but the Russians denied me a visa. The essay is my compromise.
