What is it about?

Paulus Kirchhof is a native of Heidelberg, Germany and trained in the United States, Switzerland and France. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2011 as Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Birmingham. He is currently Deputy Director of the University’s Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and a Consultant in Cardiology. He talks about his work and his experiences as an emigre cardiologist.

Why is it important?

Over the last five years he has contributed to re-organizing the clinical cardiology services in Birmingham and is deputy director of the recently founded Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, established by the University with the aim of creating a productive and powerful hub for cardiovascular research and medicine.
