What is it about?

High blood levels of the lipid cholesterol is the most important cuase of myocardial infarction. We found that these levels decreased markedly in the population of northern Sweden over 20 years. ALthough the use of lipid-lowering agents (statins) did contribute to one third of the decrease, the rest must be due to changes in lifestyle, mostly through a diet with less saturated animal fats.
