What is it about?

This study tests the applicability of the “resource availability hypothesis” in rodents, which predicts larger rodent body size in more productive habitats.

Why is it important?

Body size is an important trait in animals and is often associated with a lot of other ecological traits, such as diet. The cause of geographic variation in body size has been a fundamental question in much ecological and evolutionary research.

Perspectives

This paper shows how the results of different approaches could be different, such as cross-species and cross-assemblages.
