Using data from a large sample of U.S. adults, predictive pathways were tested between personality traits via coping styles and health-related behaviors to 10-year cumulative physiological risk for disease.

Why is it important?
The results provide further evidence of conscientiousness’ standing as a marker of health via cumulative physiological health (i.e., allostatic load). Moreover, a greater perception of feeling active was identified as a pathway through which conscientious individuals experienced healthier physiological profiles 10 years later.
