Carolyn Lam is well known for her work on heart failure and is also an advocate of the importance of dealing with regional and gender inequalities in health. She has described how the burden of heart disease is moving eastwards as countries in Asia and the Indian subcontinent modernise and the need to be ready to combat the approaching epidemic.
