What is it about?
Oxandrolone is a weak androgen that does not convert to estrogen, allowing for continued growth. It has been used extensively to increase height in girls with Turner Syndrome at low doses to prevent masculinizing features. However, in transmasculine youth, who desire masculinization, it can serve as a means of gender affirming therapy that is still largely reversible and still allow continued growth to optimize their height.

Why is it important?
Females are naturally shorter than males, so augmenting the height of transmasculine youth may help them achieve an adult height that is more congruent with their gender identity.
