What is it about?

Sleep apnea is associated with daytime sleepiness. Patients may use caffeine based stimulants to manage the symptoms of sleepiness. In this study we asked patients with sleep apnea about their caffeine consumption to determine if there is a relationship between caffeine consumption and sleep apnea. While our study demonstrated that caffeine consumption is indeed high in patients with sleep apnea, we did not find a link between severity of sleep apnea and amount of caffeine consumed.
