What is it about?

Retrospective evaluation of the profile of patients being referred to a specialist palliative care oedema service in an Irish setting. This service was led by physiotherapists. It describes the different types of oedema encountered and the causes of oedema in this population.

Why is it important?

The treatment of oedema in palliative care patients receives sparse attention in the literature. We felt that describing the types of oedema encountered was the first step in highlighting the importance of this symptom.
