What is it about?

An optical microscope using a visible-light LED achieves nanometer-scale axial resolution through a unique interferometric design. It can capture wide-field images with approximately 10 nm resolution, comparable to those obtained by atomic force microscopy, in just 3 milliseconds.

Why is it important?

Microscope and profiler systems with 10 nm resolution are typically expensive and slow. This microscope provides high speed and stability at a significantly lower cost.

Perspectives

It was very rewarding hosting the concept for this microscope evolved into a practical tool.
