What is it about?

Calculation of geothermal reservoir temperatures in several immature hot springs sometimes makes uncertainty. This is caused by the interaction between geothermal water and the surrounding rock and (mainly) with shallow meteoric water during the journey from the reservoir to the earth's surface. This research tries to calculate reservoir temperature based on enthalpy-silica method. This method is then compared with calculations based on the Na-K-Mg graphical method that has been carried out in previous studies. Calculations were made on several hot springs around Slamet Volcano, namely: Baturaden, Guci, and Sigedong.

Why is it important?

It is important to calculate the precise temperature of the geothermal reservoir, especially in hot springs that have been mixed with meteoric water (immature water). It is important to know reservoir temperature information for further analysis of the geothermal system for better management of geothermal energy sources.

Perspectives

We hope that this scientific article can inspire other researchers to develop various methods of calculating reservoir temperature that are more accurate than those already available so far. Using more and more various calculation methods will provide more accurate information. Certain conditions of the geothermal system require specific calculation and analysis methods as well, which differ from one another.
