The paper will take an overall view of Brazil’s role in the politics mitigating global warming, from the perspective of global equity in distributional cost and burden sharing.

Why is it important?

The main thesis of the paper is that key emerging countries (Brazil, China, and India) have been ambivalent in their international and domestic policies for mitigating climate change and have used in a somehow irresponsible way the principle of common and differentiated responsibilities of the UNFCCC.
