What is it about?

Energy demand for air conditioning determines the overall power generation capacity needed for a particular city. Our study simulates how air conditioning energy demand will be impacted in New York City using a combined climate model and building energy model.

Why is it important?

Cities need to plan their power generation years ahead based on projected needs. Moreover, due to how spatially varied cities and weather can be, different populations will face varying need for space cooling, resulting in unequal economic impacts. City governments will have to figure out how to deal with the Our study aims to answer these questions, which in turn might help stakeholders plan for impacts of a changing climate.
