The work is about self-knotting of smallest knotted protein and dependence of the mechanism and thermodynamics on the contact map used.

Why is it important?

Self-tying of proteins remains still elusive and there is no model allowing for efficient folding of knotting proteins in silico. The results of this work can lead to such models or modifications of existing models.

Perspectives

The work shows, that self-tying of knotted protein may not be as hard as could be which shows, how "the nature" can deal with the efficient folding of such proteins.
