What is it about?

The behaviour of individual fish was observed repeatedly for 37 times. While some individuals were consistently more active than others, evidencing 'personality', we also found that individuals differed in the variability of their behaviour.

This study shows that animals can be predictably unpredictable. The predictability of an individual's behaviour can be an important feature of its personality.
