What is it about?

In 2000-2001 we proposed a way to take a radio "photograph" of the black hole's shadow at the center of our Galaxy. Now, in the 2018-2019 timeframe, the first attempt to do this experimentally will have been completed, and the results should be released soon.

Why is it important?

This discovery will confirm one of Einstein's most important and famous predictions---the existence of gravity so strong that it creates an event horizon.

Perspectives

This kind of discovery comes along only a handful of times per century. We are on the precipice of seeing the incredible outcome of one of these major advances.
