What is it about?
This article details how an infographic assignment was used throughout a semester of an introductory level course to help develop information literacy in students and create a method of communication they used to teach others about social inequalities.

Why is it important?
With a growing emphasis on visual communication and distribution of infographics this series of assignments helps students become better consumers of this visual information as well as learn how to utilize visual displays for more effective communicators,
Perspectives
This type of assignment helps students engage multiple modes of learning and communication. They are able to develop skills related to quantitative data collection or location and improve their interpretation and communication abilities related to this data as it connects to larger social phenomena. This also provides an opportunity to assess student understanding in a less traditional type of assignment.
