Echinoderms as indicators of brine impacts

What is it about?

In this paper we show the regression of an echinoderms population when it was affected by the high salinities of a desalination brine discharge. However, when the brine discharge was diluted to lower salinities the echinoderms population was able to recover.

Echinoderms can be used as suitable indicators of salinity changes as those associated to brine discharges from desalination plants.
