What is it about?

Upper ocean Chlorophyll model simulations during 2007-09 were found to be closer to in-situ observations when forced with QuickSCAT winds than ASCAT. The validation is more prominent in the wind-driven upwelling regime of the southeastern Arabian Sea

Why is it important?

Different Scatterometer satellite sensors like QuickSCAT and ASCAT are being employed more in the simulation of ecosystem models and the present work found that QuickSCAT winds simulate more realistic upper ocean coastal production.
