What is it about?
This study analyzes the impact of Emirati-Israeli cyber cooperation on the level of Emirati support for the Palestinian cause, throughout the period between 2000 and 2023. We analyzed two phases of the Palestinian cause, which are: the Second Intifada in 2000, and the conflict which ensued after October 7th 2023. They are significant phases of the Emirati support for Palestine. Thus, the study discusses the evolution of Emirati-Israeli cyber cooperation, mainly after the signing Abraham Accords in 2020, in order to examine how this cooperation influenced Emirati support for Palestine in these phases. We find Emirati support changed from a traditional one into a more pragmatic strategy, to maintain a balance between regional interests, and the UAE’s developing relationship with Israel. The study investigates the security and geopolitical repercussions of cyber cooperation. It also analyzes political, security, and economic data for assessing the alterations in the UAE’s international pro-Palestine stance before and after signing the Abraham Accords.
